These two small paintings (20 x 20 cm) were in an exhibition this week, and both sold. It was a large art society exhibition and the sales have been excellent, 55 works sold over a week which must be about 25%, maybe more. So unpredictable! When I arrived to do my rostered duty minding the exhibition yesterday I couldn’t find the paintings and my first thought was that they hadn’t been hung, so to find that they had sold and already been taken was a great relief! These were part of an ongoing series (8 painted so far, see my paintings page) and I was very happy with them so am glad someone else liked them too!
Fantastic, well done Anna!

Thanks Tim! And congratulations on your sale too! That must have been very satisfying both for knowing someone loved your work, and helping the charity.

In retrospect, for sure, these paintings deserved purchase. But I’d have to say that *in the moment* every sale feels surprising!

This is what we all hope for, but one can never be sure, so that moment of delight and surprise is a nice thing!

Besides the obviously arresting colors, I really like the almost saw-like quality of the flowers’ edges in these two. Sharp!

Congratulations Anna sales now are an absolute bonus but I am not at all surprised you sold these images – beautiful work – fantastic colours – they would be a joy to have on the wall. Sounds like the exhibition was a success for many of you 🙂 cheers

Thanks Veronica, I do agree about sales – the best thing about them is not so much the money, but the knowledge that someone loves your work enough to take it home, and its encouragement to keep on doing what you are doing. The exhibition was extraordinary, in the end 69 out of 220 works were sold. I thought buyers were pulling back but not in this case. (It was an art society exhibition which I always feel a little ambivalent about, but it worked for me this time!)

Congratulations! I had wondered if it was with mixed feeling when work sells but I like the way you put it, “the knowledge that someone loves your work”. It does have to feel great and the ultimate approval!
Your work is very striking and bold, I look forward to seeing more!

Thank you, there is always more work on the go – I am planning to add more to the paintings page at some point (just need to get organised!). There are always mixed feelings about selling, I was a little sad about these because I was happy with them, but sometimes I am just glad to see pieces go when I have moved on from them. I don’t think the warm glow of knowing the work is appreciated ever goes though, or I hope not!
