Paintings to pendants

A new experiment – using small photos of my paintings to make jewellery. After coating digital images of some of my small paintings with two-part epoxy (liquid glass), I placed them in small silver-coloured pendant frames to make necklaces. In those few words it sounds so simple, but there was a lot of fiddling around and mess, so I have learned valuable lessons for the process next time. Firstly, I would glue the images into the frames first, then flood them with the liquid glass. This would give them a much cleaner finish – these had already been pasted on to foam core board which was far too thick for the frames so had to be cut back. The images were too large as well, so had to be trimmed, very tricky to do neatly! But all up, it has been a good experience and given me lots of ideas for different approaches another time.

The frames are 2.5 cm (1 in) square.

I draw, I paint, I am a printmaker. Always searching for the interesting detail in the world around me.

  1. Are you selling them, Anna? If so – (quickly staking my claim) I’d like to buy the one on the far right. I would adore wearing these…any of them….but the one on the right especially.

          1. Storewise, well, as you are making products, as opposed to imagery, I suggest something along the lines of Etsy. Maybe there is something similar here in Australia as postage could become quite expensive for you. However, don’t know how Etsy operate, so can’t help there! Red Bubble is only for artworks, as is in paintings, photos, digital art, ‘tho it is NOT a marketing service. You still have to do that yourself and print quality is a bit iffy; all the artists complain about that. Still, Bing (I don’t use Google unless absolutely necessary) ‘online art sales’, Australia only.

  2. Today I received my pendant from Anna. It is the one on the far right in the photo. It is absolutely beautiful. In fact the photo doesn’t do justice to these. Its first trip out will be TODAY as I’m meeting two artist friends for lunch. YAY!!!
