Some fairy stories are wild and scary, with monstrous creatures and cruelty. Others are sweet and gentle with a happy ending. This drawing has elements of both. There is fur, and teeth, and wings, and claws. Eyes looking out and ears pricked. Find what you will.
It might remain as a drawing, but it might end up converted to a book. It is pen and ink on hot pressed Arches paper. The lower image is a detail.

This is pretty detailed, Anna! Are the fairies really tiny? I think I need my reading glasses; my eyes are bad. But it is great! I just got out a story about fairies that I started years ago, but never finished. I was thinking last night that I might work on it today. But it is one where fairies enter some kids’ world, so I’m not sure it is what you have in mind. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I’m afraid there are no literal fairies – they have to come from your imagination! I found hints of shapes and forms and took them on a journey. All the marks are a surprise to me. The final image seemed full of fairy tale imagery, some pretty, some creepy.

It does need to be seen close up really, all the marks are quite small. The detail image offers a bit more. At this stage I’m not sure what will happen to it. I am fairly enamoured with the idea of books ( in their broadest interpretation) at the moment, but who knows – something will come to me!
